SUMMARY:Matinee “Traditions” Recital with a special tribute to Dr. Robert Hart Baker (1954-2023)
DESCRIPTION:This midafternoon recital will feature adult members and friends of the Matinee Musical Club of York\, a 100+ year-old organization that encourages local musicians to keep performing in the community. A diverse and stellar program of vocal and instrumental music featuring First Capitol Brass\, flute\, violin\, cello\, organ\, voice\, and piano will be presented including works by York native Dominick Argento (1927-2017). Special musical tributes will be offered throughout to honor the YSO’s longtime music director Dr. Robert Hart Baker\, who passed away over Thanksgiving weekend 2023.

SUMMARY:How I See – And Hear – It: Art Through Music
DESCRIPTION:Drop in to view art; music ongoing \n\n\n\nExperience immersive music all day with rolling rotations for solo cello with Baltimore Symphony Solo music provided by BSO cellist Lukasz Szyrner and conservatory students Katrina Wolfe and Ryan Schick\, as well as sitar sets with John Protopapas\, “troubadour” songs with singer/songwriter John Terlazzo\, and American folk music with David and Dianne Creagh (2-3 pm) in the gallery where paintings by Stephen March “As I See It – A Retrospective” (November 24th 2023 – January 20th\, 2024) are being showcased this month. Take in the exhibit and the ambient sounds provided through music. \n\n\n\nThe inspiration and motivation for Stephen March’s personal artistic expression comes from the issues and events of everyday life\, present and past\, public and private. Stephen makes art that is a vehicle for emotional and intellectual contemplation as well as a metaphor for the fragility of the human condition.
